How has your time been in Sydney?

– It was lovely. I enjoyed my time at the George Institute and in Sydney. I finished my research project as planned and got to experience Sydney.

What was the purpose with the research stay?

– The purpose was to gain research experience in an international research environment and conduct a study that will be included in my thesis.

Has your visit to Sydney been rewarding?

– It was very rewarding. I took part in research that addresses diet-related disease and food insecurity. Sydney is a great city to explore.

Tell me more about the research you conducted there – what was it about?

– My research was about the prevalence of nutritional information available on packaged food online in Australia.

How do you think this trip can contribute to your future work?

– The trip may lead to future international collaborations.

Did anything not go as planned? Was there anything that surprised you?

– There were some delays due to IT issues and difficulties accessing data. However, once those were resolved I could complete my work as planned. The stay exceeded my expectations in every way.

What was the biggest difference between your home environment and the research environment at Sydney University?

– The institute is much bigger with many visiting researchers from across the world and the research conducted is often collaborations between groups and across research areas.

Do you have any tips for others considering doing a research stay in Sweden?

– Plan your stay well ahead of your intended travel date to make sure you have enough time to apply for funding, visa and accommodation.

What did you most enjoy doing in your free time in Sweden?

– There were so many enjoyable activities. Being outdoors and hiking, playing tennis, surfing and spending time at the many beaches in Sydney was lovely.
