UmArts in collaboration with Umeå School of Architecture is now looking for an intermittent Projekt assistant for work based on needs to work in a creative environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with creative people and is interested in supporting the development of artistic research in a critical context. The deadline for applications is 6 July 2026.
UmArts is Umeå University's centre for research in architecture, design and art, in collaboration with Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, Umeå School of Architecture, Umeå Institute of Design, Department of Creative Studies. The centre offers an exciting interdisciplinary environment for research in the fields of visual arts, architecture, design, art.
Tasks
You will work closely with UmArt's management and researchers to support the centre's day-to-day operations in line with its strategic objectives. You will report to UmArt’s director and research coordinator. Your main tasks will include:
Organize and maintain materials and technical equipment in our facilities and exhibition spaces
Manage orders and maintenance of equipment
Maintain and calibrate 3D printers
Provide technical support in the preparation of artworks, performances, exhibitions, workshops, and symposia
Photographic and video documentation, as well as processing and archiving documented material
Support and assist staff ahead of exhibitions and fieldwork
Other tasks may be assigned
Qualifications
The applicant must have at least an upper secondary school diploma and experience of working with 3D printers. You possess strong computer and web skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate various digital platforms. You have an understanding of decision-making structures in a government organization and of professional artistic work in an academic environment.
As a person, you have strong organizational skills and the ability to work patiently and carefully with administrative and technical tasks. You are self-motivated, take initiative and work independently towards set goals. You have good collaboration skills and a flexible, team-oriented attitude when working with researchers from different disciplines. You are structured, solution-oriented and find it easy to build positive relationships in a creative and academic environment.
A higher education degree in design, art or architecture is a merit. Experience in organizing public events is also a merit as is experience working in an artistic environment.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Condition
The employment is an intermittent employment with hourly pay for a framework period of 12 months. The start date of the framework agreement is 1 September 2026 or as agreed.
The organisation of working hours may vary, but mainly includes daytime work from Monday to Friday. Work in the evenings and/or weekends may occur.
The intermittent form of employment means that you may be offered work for a few short periods during the current framework period. The employment opportunities are limited in time pursuant to the Employment Protection Act 5 § 1 p. Being available in this way means that you can accept or decline every opportunity you are offered to work on and that a new employment relationship occurs on each individual occasion that you work.
