To be a PhD student at the Department and within UPSC means that you will get an up to date education on various aspects of modern plant biology.
You can choose direction either towards whole plant biology partly done in the field or laboratory based research in plant biochemistry/molecular biology. As a PhD you will have a reference group in addition to your main supervisor that will guide you through the 4-5 years education. We have an international education and it will give you several possibilities not only to go abroad on international conferences but also to spend time in laboratories of our collaborators. Usually we have about 12-15 PhD students and we accept in average 2-3 students per year depending on the financial situation. As a Phd student the department will guarantee your salary and access to supervisor and reference groups for up till 5 years of studies.
