An information session will be held on May 13 at 10:00 at IceLab. The session will introduce the program, highlight new elements for this year, and offer guidance on shaping project ideas.
Teams of two or more researchers are invited to submit interdisciplinary project proposals that benefit from collaboration across disciplines and methods. Three projects will receive funding for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship. The fellows will be jointly supervised by researchers from Umeå University or Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
The call has a stronger connection this year to Stress Response Modeling at IceLab, a Swedish Research Council-funded excellence center. Projects should connect with the excellence center's research theme to gain from the center's expertise and bring fresh perspectives to its research.
IceLab supports the selected projects by hosting the postdoctoral fellows within its interdisciplinary research hub. Fellows take part in IceLab’s activities and work in close contact with researchers across fields. Supervising teams become IceLab affiliates and, where relevant, connect to the Stress Response Modeling centre.
From project idea to postdoctoral fellow
Projects are selected through a multi-stage process. In the first stage, research teams submit project proposals, which are evaluated by an external review committee. Up to five projects are selected to move forward. A decision on which projects will move to the next phase—recruitment of postdoctoral candidates—is expected by June 12.
In a second stage, these projects jointly recruit postdoctoral candidates over the summer through an open call. In the final stage during the autumn term, project teams nominate a top candidate, and an internal committee ranks the project–candidate pairs. Three are selected for funding.
