I am a specialist in general practice and work as a general practitioner at Bureå Health Centre, located outside Skellefteå. My research is conducted at the Rheumatology Unit, Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine, Umeå University.
My doctoral project investigates the prevalence of psychiatric comorbidity, in the form of anxiety and depressive symptoms, in psoriatic disease, with a partly primary care focus. The aim is to identify sociodemographic and clinical factors associated with mental illness, as well as to compare potential differences between patients with psoriasis with and without psoriatic arthritis.
The project also includes laboratory analyses of cytokines and other biomarkers to explore potential immunological mechanisms underlying these symptoms. A complementary qualitative sub-study examines pain experiences among psoriasis patients without arthritis, in order to describe and understand their nature and possible distinctive features
