My research concerns how participation, gender, norms, and social participation and interaction shape health and wellbeing across the life course. I currently study loneliness and social connectedness through social activities among older adults, and through a separate focus on how gendered norms, including masculinity norms, shape experiences of loneliness and support‑seeking. This research aims to inform and develop socially oriented interventions, such as Social Prescribing in Sweden (SPiS), to reduce social isolation and promote health and wellbeing.
Another research strand concerns disabled children and young people, such as those with cerebral palsy, exploring their social participation and communication in general and in physical activity and physiotherapy in particular, which has rendered attention in "". It includes how social categorisation and norms shapes opportunities and quality of life, drawing on registry data (e.g. CPUP-register), surveys, and qualitative interviews. It has been received attention
Social (gendered) norms, connectedness and loneliness are also key in my research about Swedish police officers.
