I am a PhD student in Niklas Arnberg’s group and a junior physician at the University Hospital of Umeå.
I am a PhD student in Niklas Arnberg lab and a junior physician at the University Hospital of Umeå. My research focuses on respiratory viruses, specifically enteroviruses and rhinoviruses, which most often cause common cold symptoms but can, in some cases, lead to more severe complications such as asthma exacerbations (rhinovirus) and polio-like symptoms (enterovirus). My project aims to identify specific molecules that are present on host cells and important for viral infection. The main goal is to contribute to the development of antiviral compounds.
I studied medicine at Umeå University and became involved in research early on. Already during my second semester, I joined Niklas’s group as a research trainee. I was given the opportunity to credit the tenth semester of the medical programme and instead worked (conducted research) full-time in Niklas’s lab on a project that today has become my PhD project.
