In my research I develop and analyze computer based methods for solving partial differential equations. Such equations are used to describe physical phenomena, models for the environment, and economic theory. The complexity of realistic problems in these fields makes solutions to the equations only feasible using computer based methods. I am primarily interested in methods based on a solid mathematical foundation, for instance finite element methods.
