Walk and talk

Walk and Talk offers an easy and accessible way to combine physical activity with conversation and recovery during the study or workday. Within the framework of Health on Campus, ͯÑÕÊÓƵ has developed clearly marked walking trails around campus that are suitable for walk‑and‑talk meetings, study breaks and restorative walks.

Why Walk and Talk?

Walking and talking outdoors can promote recovery, reduce stress and create space for reflection and dialogue. Walk and Talk encourages everyday movement and supports a sustainable study and working life for students and staff at Umeå University.

Walking trails around campus

There are four Walk and Talk trails of varying lengths. The trails start and end at the Pavilion by the pond, but you are free to start and stop wherever it suits you.

The walking trails are clearly marked with Health on Campus QR‑code stickers along the way, making them easy to follow and accessible at any time.

Green - Around the pond (5-10 minutes)

A short walk around the pond for a quick break or reflection.

Blue - Walk & Talk (5–10 minutes)

Suitable for year-round walking and conversations along bike paths.

Yellow - Rest & Digest (20-30 minutes)

A longer, restorative walk around campus and nearby forest areas.

Red - Out & About (30-40 minutes)

Walk and talk, or enjoy a recreational walk along bike paths that are accessible throughout the year.
