Health on campus offers workshops and activities with a limited number of places. These activities require pre-registration, remember to register!

Remember, all activities below require registration. Registration opens 3 September at 9:00 and closes on 15 September at 13:00. Only during this period you will find registration links to the respective activities presented below.

Most activities during the day will be held in Swedish, but English speakers are welcome to participate. Instructors will try to provide support in English where possible.

  • Aikido

    Aikido for Beginners with Isshinkai Aikido Club

    CANCELLED. Welcome to try out during any of their regular training sessions in September: Tuesdays 19:00–20:15, Thursdays 19:00–20:15, and Saturdays 15:00–15:30. Try aikido – a martial art for everyone – together with Isshinkai Aikido Club. Aikido is a Japanese martial art that trains mobility, strength, and endurance – but also presence, balance, and harmony. It’s a non-competitive form of training, where the goal is to meet without conflict and use power without relying on physical strength. Whether you're small or tall, young or old, woman or man – everyone trains based on their own abilities, together on equal terms. No prior experience or personal equipment is required – just curiosity and the joy of movement! We train at Umeå Budoklubb’s facilities on Bankgatan 10. Instructor: Ulf Hjerppe.

  • Art Experience at Bildmuseet

    Art Experience at Bildmuseet

    Slow down and approach art in a more mindful way. Today’s fast-paced image flow affects how we experience art – but what happens when we give artworks more time? Can an art experience help reduce stress levels? Together with one of Bildmuseet’s guides, we’ll focus on a few selected pieces in the museum’s exhibitions. Using the method slow looking, we’ll explore the artworks in a slightly different way. Meeting point: Reception at Bildmuseet, Arts Campus Language: Swedish or English depending on participants. Feel free to combine your visit with lunch or coffee at Restaurant Bygden, Arts Campus. Please indicate in your registration whether you prefer the tour in Swedish or English.

  • Badminton

    Badminton with IFK Umeå

    Want some tips on how to make badminton even more fun – and hopefully improve your game? Come and give it a try! An instructor will be on site to guide you. All you need to bring are indoor shoes and workout clothes. Badmintonstation Umeå offers free loan rackets and plastic shuttlecocks. Feather shuttlecocks are available for purchase.     Boules with BS Nordboulen

    Welcome to try boule together with instructors from BS Nordboulen – whether you're a beginner or have played before. You’ll learn the technical and tactical basics of the game and get the chance to play one or two matches in a relaxed and social atmosphere. Bring your colleagues, classmates, or come on your own – everyone is welcome! We play at Umeå Nya Boulehall, located at Spinnvägen 22 in Grubbe. Free transport from Universum is available for those who wish.

    Breaststroke with IKSU

    Breaststroke might be the first swimming style you learn – but it can be tricky to master. Take the opportunity to improve your technique with IKSU’s Jelena Nääs. Basic swimming skills are required. For those interested, there’s also a chance to earn the Swedish swimming badge Simborgarmärket by swimming 200 meters – any stroke of your choice.

  • Disc Golf

    Disc Golf

    Try disc golf – one of Sweden’s fastest-growing sports! We’ll start the session with basic technique training in small groups, where you’ll learn throwing techniques and game elements. After that, we’ll play a few holes together to put your new skills into practice. Equipment is available to borrow, but feel free to bring your own discs if you have them.     Fishing in Lake Nydala with Umeå Municipality

    FULLY BOOKED! You’re warmly welcome to try fishing in Lake Nydala. All the equipment you need will be available on site. If we’re lucky, the fish will be biting – your best chance is to catch perch, but pike or stocked rainbow trout might also take the bait. Please dress according to the weather – activity will proceed even in case of rain. Instructor Oskar Östlin, fishing consultant at Umeå Municipality, will be there to offer tips and guidance.

    Try out Mountain Biking (MTB) with guides from Obbola Outdoor. Bikes are available to borrow on site. Beginner Group 12:00–14:00 – for those who are new to MTB or want to ease into it at a relaxed pace. We’ll ride together in easy terrain. Intermediate Group 15:00–17:00 – for those who no longer consider themselves beginners. We’ll avoid the most technical sections but keep a steady pace through slightly varied terrain.   • Mushroom Workshop

    Mushroom Workshop

    Welcome to an inspiring lecture and Q&A session with Jon Granbom, mushroom consultant at the Swedish Association of Mushroom Consultants. During approximately 45 minutes, you'll get an introduction to the fascinating world of mushrooms, with a special focus on identifying common species – including edible, poisonous, and look-alike varieties. The lecture also covers the basics of mushroom cultivation and how mushrooms can be used in cooking. Afterwards, there will be time for questions and discussion.

    Strong through Menopause with IKSU

    LECTURE NOW OPEN FOR MORE PARTICIPANTS! Welcome to the Menopause Strong workshop! The lecture will be held in Swedish. Did you know that exercise – especially strength training – has been shown to effectively relieve symptoms experienced before, during, and after menopause? This workshop includes a lecture, practical tips and advice on training, nutrition, stress, and sleep. THIS PART IS ALREADY FULLY BOOKED: Afterward, we’ll meet in the gym to push, lift, and pull together. You’ll get a walkthrough and, hopefully, the confidence to continue your journey toward a stronger life through menopause.   • Triathlon

    Experience Triathlon with Umeå Triathlon Multisport

    Curious about triathlon? Join us for a triathlon-inspired activity with Umeå Triathlon Multisport! We offer a fun and varied course on grass where you’ll train balance, technique, and get familiar with transitions between cycling and running. The activity ends with a workout in the format run–bike–run, where everyone participates at their own pace. Triathlon is a sport where you swim, bike, and run in succession, with transitions in between. In this activity, we won’t be swimming – instead, we’ll focus on the cycling and running segments, known as a duathlon. The activity is suitable for all levels, regardless of previous experience. Equipment: Bring your own bike with working brakes (e.g., hybrid, MTB, or city bike – all types are fine except road bikes, as we’ll be on grass), a bike helmet (mandatory), and running shoes. No special training clothes are required – dress for outdoor exercise according to the weather. The activity will proceed even in case of rain.

  • University Golf Championship

    University Golf Championship

    The format is stroke play with a maximum score per hole (Stableford-style stroke play). Two categories: women's and men's. In this format, the number of strokes is counted, but the maximum number of strokes per hole is limited to five over par (regardless of handicap or hole index). If a player has not holed out after these strokes, the ball can be picked up and the score recorded as par + 5 strokes. Women play from the red tee, men from the yellow tee. Women over 70 may choose between red and orange tees; men over 70 may choose between yellow and red tees – please indicate your choice when registering. Note: this is “two competitions in one.” The championship is won by the best gross score. The second competition is based on the best net score. The registration fee of 350 SEK must be paid in advance by September 11 via Swish to Börje Ljungberg, 070-322 76 90 (please specify “golf fee” and your name). The fee is the same regardless of golf club membership, and any green fee is included. Scorecards can be picked up from 08:30. Shotgun start at 10:00. Prize ceremony around 15:00. The number of players is limited to 72 – first come, first served. Registration deadline: September 11. Please dress according to the weather – activity will proceed even in case of rain.
